Known colloquially as the P-cup, this is a 3-week long, in-gym competition where folks are sorted into "houses" lead by one of our fearless coaches, to earn points and win glory for their team. The purpose of the P-Cup is to prepare for the Open, which starts late February. Athletes earn points by coming to class, PRing lifts, working on skills/new movements, and mobility.

The short answer is there are 6 ways that you can earn points:
Attendance
Skill work
Mobility work
PR your lifts (vs the last 5 years!)
New Movements
Aegis goals
Attendance will only be counted for classes at JP CrossFit, other activities and sports do not count. There will be exceptions for the following:
If you are traveling, dropping into another gym while traveling or doing a measurable, high-intensity workout at your hotel does count.
If you are unable to attend class for some other reason (sickness, injury) during the Phoenix Cup, please contact Ari to discuss attendance options.
Nope! You just need to make sure that if you finish it 5% faster at the same or a more difficult scale.
For example:
I have a recorded Fran that I finished in 5:24 that I completed with Thrusters with a 55# bar and Kipping Pull Ups.
I would get points if I completed Fran:
5% faster with a 55# bar and kipping pull ups.
5% faster with a 65# bar and butterfly pull ups.
I would not get points if I completed Fran
5% faster with a 45# bar and jumping pull ups.
3% faster with a 65# and butterfly pull ups.
Please don't intentionally do the benchmarks at a slower pace before the competition just so that you can easily PR them during the Phoenix Cup, as that isn't in the spirit of the competition!
